Whisky, Scotland's national drink has a heritage dating back more than 500 years. It is therefore, little surprise that the gaelic name for whisky, Uisge Beatha, translates as 'Water of Life'.

Whisky's are divided into different regions, depending where the distillery that produces the whisky is situated. These include Highlands, Lowlands, Speyside and the Islands.

There are numerous distilleries to visit as you wind your way through the charming towns and villages of the highlands. The Garve Hotel, lies amid one of the most prolific whisky producing regions namely the Highlands, with our most local distillery being the Glen Ord.

Most distillery's have visitor centre's with many offering guided tours. Please see links below for further details.

It is possible to sample a selection of Whisky's from the comfort of the Garve Hotel – with our two most popular within the hotel being Scottish Leader and Famous Grouse.
